Since its establishment in July 2006, the Institute for Genomics & Systems Biology (IGSB) has been rapidly growing through the active recruitment of faculty and staff.

IGSB will house 9 to 10 core faculty members in genomics and systems biology at the University of Chicago and several scientists at Argonne National Laboratory. The Institute is also recruiting junior scientists and technical staff to fulfill IGSB mission goals.

Applications Programmer-Intermediate
Provide bioinformatics support, develop database and computational analysis pipeline for new Institute for Genomics & Systems Biology. Bachelor's degree in computer science required; previous bioinformatics programming experience required; Windows and Unix scripting and C/C++ programming experience required; knowledge of Java programming preferred; basic knowledge of molecular biology required; statistics experience required; ability to coordinate multiple projects in a demanding research environment required. Research Technologist
Perform duties as Genomics Research Technologist as part of the new Institute for Genomics & Systems Biology. Join a team involved in the systematic characterization of genomes at the Genomics & Systems Biology Laboratory at Argonne National Laboratory. Perform DNA sequencing work using next generation sequencers (Solexa and 454). Use whole-genome DNA tiling microarrays to map transcription factor binding sites using ChIP-chip. Attend and participate in project meetings, summarize results of experiments performed and assist in interpreting the results of studies.
